USGLC CEO Statement Recognizing Rep. Michael McCaul for Decades of Championing American Global Leadership

WASHINGTON – Liz Schrayer, President and CEO of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), released the following statement on Congressman Michael McCaul’s (R-TX-10) announcement that he will not seek reelection next year:

“Congressman Michael McCaul has been one of the premier experts and champions for the past two decades on America’s role in the world and how deeply connected it is to our security and economic strength here at home. USGLC’s network of business leaders, farmers, non-profits, faith communities, and military voices is deeply grateful for his extraordinary leadership and commitment to advancing bipartisan solutions that make America stronger, safer and more prosperous.

As the lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee from 2019 to 2025, Congressman McCaul played a critical role advancing international investments that promote stability, prevent conflict, and open markets for American goods. His key role in leading bipartisan legislation to combat global hunger, support Ukraine, and prioritize smart development through the Global Fragility Act and the reauthorization of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has created a legacy that will have a profound impact for the better.

My colleagues and I have had the honor of working closely with Congressman McCaul and his outstanding staff throughout his career in Congress, hosting him on many occasions. My favorite event was the townhall that USGLC hosted in his home state in Texas when he was Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Before an audience of his constituents who were very proud and appreciative of his work in this area, he said, “American global engagement is crucial for U.S. national security and economic growth… I understand the key to these gains are our diplomacy and development programs around the world, and I will continue to prioritize funding for these vital programs to the service of our nation.”

On behalf of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, we thank Congressman McCaul for his years of public service and are thrilled he is committed to staying active in foreign policy and national security. We look forward to continuing to work with him during his remaining time in Congress – and in the years ahead.”
