With no shortage of global challenges confronting America, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition welcomes Mike Pompeo as the 70th Secretary of State and looks forward to working together to bring the “swagger” back to our nation’s civilian forces.

Starting on day one, Secretary Pompeo has a unique opportunity to deliver a much-needed reset to the Department by taking a page out of the playbook of another West Point graduate – General George Marshall – who championed investments in development and diplomatic programs around the globe in order to advance America’s national security and economic interests.

A key step in stopping famines, combatting terrorism, and guarding against pandemics is to ensure strong resources, empowered personnel, and restored morale at the State Department, USAID, and other development agencies – all priorities the new Secretary espoused at his confirmation hearing. We look forward to working alongside Secretary Pompeo to ensure America’s global leadership.
