WASHINGTON –The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition President and CEO Liz Schrayer released the following statement on the letter sent by the leadership of the Senate Foreign Relations and House Foreign Affairs Committees to the Administration’s Office of Budget and Management (OMB):
At a time of unparalleled partisan gridlock, hats off to top Republican and Democratic foreign policy leaders who have come together with a strong bipartisan message to OMB – don’t pull back America’s footprint around the world.
Whether it’s competing with China, fighting Ebola, or countering Russia, it’s no surprise that these powerful lawmakers are raising deep concerns about slashing our nation’s development and diplomacy programs. I certainly take Congress at their word that they’ll use every available tool to stop cuts to the State Department and USAID.
Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values.
