WASHINGTON – The USGLC’s President and CEO Liz Schrayer issued the following statement on the release of the House and Senate 302(b) Fiscal Year 2019 funding allocations:
In a clear, bipartisan voice – Congress has once again soundly rejected dangerous proposals for America to withdraw from the world. By setting funding levels that ensure our nations civilian tools can deliver results for the American people, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees sent a strong message about what matters for our national security and economic interests.
We look forward to working with Congressional champions, led by Chairmen Graham and Rogers and Ranking Members Leahy and Lowey, to ensure resources for America’s International Affairs Budget keep pace with today’s growing threats.
Just this week, Secretary Pompeo declared: “I will ensure the State Department has every dollar it needs to achieve its mission around the world.” As we all know, the needs are great – and increasingly complex. From combatting terrorism and Ebola to competing in the world’s fastest growing markets, America must lead.
Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values. We believe that smart investments in international assistance and diplomacy, alongside defense, can make the world safer and America stronger.
