USGLC CEO on Amendment to Cut Diplomacy and Development

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s President and CEO Liz Schrayer released on the following statement on Senator Rand Paul’s amendment to cut resources by 15% for the State Department, USAID, and other development agencies:

Today’s bipartisan rejection of dramatic cuts to the State Department and USAID was a resounding defeat for a proposal that is completely out of step with what is in the best interests of keeping Americans safe.

While the outcome of this vote was certainly not a surprise, it’s still incredibly troubling that in the midst of the global coronavirus outbreak we would even question the need for America to engage in the world.

Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values.
