USGLC CEO Statement on a Modern Development Finance Institution

WASHINGTON – The USGLC President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the Administration’s proposal in the Fiscal Year 2019 budget request to strengthen the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC):

I welcome the Administration’s proposal to create a modern development finance institution. This new effort presents an opportunity to enhance an already innovative agency in order to strengthen American competitiveness, foster economic growth, and promote stability in emerging markets.

We applaud this effort to double down on this critical part of our economic development toolkit, which will help to fight poverty and advance our national interests. We look forward to Congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle working with the Administration to help shape this important agenda.

Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values.
