WASHINGTON, DC – Liz Schrayer, President and CEO of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), released the following statement on the status of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations bill that was approved by the House earlier this month on a strong bipartisan vote:
As difficult and important conversations take place around funding for the Department of Homeland Security, time is of the essence to reach an agreement on a path forward that ensures final passage of the FY26 National Security and State Department Appropriations bill.
There is a clear reason why this carefully crafted agreement passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support – Members on both sides of the aisle understand that effective, accountable diplomatic, development, global health, and humanitarian assistance programs are essential for America to compete and win in the world.
With China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea working to undermine our interests around the world at every turn, America must remain engaged. Completing action on this full-year funding bill will ensure America has the tools it needs to counter our rivals, stand with our allies, keep threats at bay, prevent future wars, save lives, and protect our national and economic security.
We hope the bipartisan collaboration that brought the appropriations process to this point can once again serve as the foundation for a meaningful path forward that results in the bipartisan, bicameral National Security and State Department Appropriations bill being swiftly signed into law.
Our rivals aren’t waiting.
