USGLC CEO on Plans to Suspend U.S. Funding to WHO

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The President and CEO of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the Administration’s plans to halt funding to the World Health Organization (WHO):

Halting funding to the WHO in the midst of a global pandemic is not in the interest of the American people. The United States certainly has an important role to help drive reform, transparency and accountability at the WHO. But with COVID-19 spreading to countries in the developing world with weak and fragile health systems, the WHO is an essential player in fighting the virus now – critical to helping the most vulnerable while also preventing a further rebound of the virus here at home.

Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values. We believe that smart investments in international assistance and diplomacy, alongside defense, can make the world safer and America stronger.
