“Derek is a nationally recognized leader in building coalitions, and we are delighted to have his talents and expertise at USGLC as we work with grasstops leaders across the country to educate Americans about the importance of U.S. leadership in our world today,” said USGLC Executive Director Liz Schrayer.
Gianino was most recently Deputy National Coalitions Director for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, overseeing national outreach efforts to veterans, sportsmen, and farmers. Previously he was at Howard Consulting Group and served as Deputy Field Manager at DDC Advocacy. A Michigan native, Gianino graduated from Kalamazoo College, and received his Master of Public Policy from The American University in Washington, D.C.
“Smart power is an issue Democrats, Republicans, and Independents can all get behind, and I look forward to working with our leaders across the country in building even greater national momentum and support for global development and diplomacy,” said Gianino.
The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (www.usglc.org) is a broad-based influential network of 400 businesses and NGOs; national security and foreign policy experts; and business, faith-based, academic and community leaders in all 50 states who support a smart power approach of elevating development and diplomacy alongside defense in order to build a better, safer world.
