This morning USGLC Senior Director Ambassador Mark Green was joined by Lieutenant General Pete Osman, USMC (Ret.), Vice Admiral Stephen Loftus, USN (Ret.), and former Army Captain Jim Morin on Capitol Hill to discuss how America’s global leadership is critical to U.S. national security. The breakfast, which drew a crowd of more than 40 senior House and Senate GOP staff, was in the House Majority Whip’s Office and was co-hosted with Representatives Peter Roskam (R-IL) and Duncan Hunter (R-CA). General Osman and Admiral Loftus, both distinguished members of USGLC’s National Security Advisory Council, and Captain Morin, a member of USGLC’s Veterans for Smart Power, all shared insights and experiences from their military careers that led them to see development and diplomacy as integral to America’s national security. During an engaging conversation with Hill staff, they all urged support for a strong and effective International Affairs Budget and opposition to disproportionate cuts to development and diplomacy.
