Rep. Zach Nunn Joins Iowa Leaders to Highlight U.S. Global Leadership

DES MOINES, IA – At the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates in Des Moines, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) hosted business, agricultural, and national security leaders to discuss how  “When America Leads, Iowa Wins.”

Iowa is a powerhouse in the global economy—exporting $27 billion in goods and services annually—with international trade supporting more than 380,000 jobs and agricultural exports alone totaling $13.5 billion annually.

Congressman Zach Nunn (R-IA-03), along with U.S. Marine Corp (ret.) Lt. General John G. Castellaw, and Daryl Bouwkamp, Senior Director of Industry, International & Government Relations at Vermeer Corporation, joined the discussion to underscore how sustained American engagement in the world—through diplomacy and international assistance alongside defense—can prevent crises, save lives, and counter rivals like China while building trade and economic opportunities for Iowa to compete and win around the world.

Congressman Nunn said: “Iowa’s farmers and businesses compete on a global stage every single day. Today’s conversation focused on making sure they have the tools to win and that their priorities are front and center in the policies I’m fighting for in Washington. That means advancing a strong Farm Bill, securing new trade agreements, and strengthening the supply chains and markets Iowa producers and Main Street businesses rely on.”
