Gentry Smith is the Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security.

Mr. Smith rejoins the State Department after previous security postings including as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Countermeasures and as Director of Physical Security Programs in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, as well as previous foreign postings in Japan, Egypt, and Burma.
