WASHINGTON – The USGLC President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the final passage of the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment Act of 2018:
The passage of the WEEE Act is a demonstration of how Washington should work – smart policy, championed by the Administration and Congress working together on a bipartisan agenda to advance America’s interests and values around the world. The legislation is a terrific capstone to the 115th Congress that has passed a record-setting roster of bipartisan global development bills over the last two years.
A big congratulations to Ivanka Trump and USAID Administrator Green; Senators Boozman, Cardin, Rubio, and Shaheen; and Chairman Royce, Ranking Member Engel, and Rep. Lois Frankel, who have championed this global women’s economic empowerment act. This legislation will set the stage for further efforts in the new year to promote entrepreneurship, fight gender-based violence, and promote the rights of women and girls.
Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values.
