Matt joins the USGLC after serving four years as chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, where he developed close relationships with many of the nation’s top Republicans. As chairman, Matt was a strong friend and ally to the USGLC, earning the “State Global Citizen” award in 2016. He participated in one of USGLC’s Africa trips, strengthening his beliefs in global development and diplomacy. Matt previously served as State Director for U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), senior advisor to Governor Mark Sanford, and Deputy Political Director of the Republican Governors Association. He served as the South Carolina Republican Party’s Executive Director in 2011 and 2012. A Georgia native, Matt holds a BS in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech and an MA in economics from the University of South Carolina school of business. He lives with his wife and child in South Carolina.
