Xavier Becerra serves as Secretary of Health and Human Services. In this position, he would play a critical role in the ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Becerra currently serves as California’s Attorney General. Previously, he represented California’s 34th District in Congress from 1993 to 2017, where he served as Assistant to the Speaker of the House and Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

On Global Health: In Congress, Becerra was a strong supporter of global health initiatives, saying that U.S. investments in PEPFAR “[send] a strong message that America is committed to leading this fight.”
