USGLC CEO Statement on Urgency to Pass National Security Emergency Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the urgency to pass the national security emergency supplemental currently before the House of Representatives:

With Congress back from a two-week recess, time is of the essence for the House of Representatives to move the national security emergency supplemental forward to protect America’s security and defend our national interests.

It is astounding to consider the current worldwide threat environment facing America – from Russia’s advancement in Ukraine, to the global competition with China, to Iran’s destabilizing efforts across the Middle East, to the unprecedented and rising global humanitarian crises – including Gaza and other urgent needs.

As our nation’s military leaders continually remind us, a comprehensive package that provides no less than $26.8 billion in civilian resources, including economic and humanitarian assistance, is essential to confront the escalating global threats to U.S. interests.

We urge the House to swiftly approve a comprehensive package to rush long overdue assistance to America’s allies and partners.
