USGLC CEO Statement on New Development Finance Legislation

WASHINGTON – The USGLC President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the new development finance legislation introduced in Congress today:

We applaud Senators Corker and Coons and Representatives Yoho and Smith for building on years of bipartisan legislative leadership on global development – now with the introduction of development finance legislation.

This new announcement builds on the smart effort by the Administration – all recognizing the impact of how a robust development finance institution helps advance our nation’s interests while ensuring that American businesses can compete in some of today’s fastest growing economies around the world.

As Congress and the Administration work to fine tune all the details, we are confident that strengthening development finance as a foreign policy tool is smart strategically so our nation can do more to fight poverty overseas and create jobs here at home.

Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values. We believe that smart investments in international assistance and diplomacy, alongside defense, can make the world safer and America stronger.
