USGLC CEO Praises Bipartisan Congressional Leadership on Global Fragility Act

WASHINGTON – The USGLC President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the bicameral introduction of the Global Fragility Act:

The introduction of the Global Fragility Act in the House and Senate marks another smart and game-changing bipartisan bill to strengthen America’s development and diplomacy programs. This legislation is particularly important for driving a more targeted and comprehensive approach to tackle the root causes of extremism, famine, and displacement. A pound of prevention is worth an ounce of a cure.

A big shout out to all the lawmakers who are championing this issue: Senators Coons, Graham, Merkley, Rubio, and Young; Chairman Engel and Ranking Member McCaul; Reps. Smith, Wagner, Keating, and Rooney.

This action continues a drumbeat of global development legislation that have recently been signed law to advance America’s security, economic, and humanitarian interests around the world. It is now time to prioritize prevention strategies.
