USGLC CEO on the Administration’s Ukraine Supplemental Proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the Administration’s reported proposal to Congress for $2.9 billion in supplemental funding for the State Department and USAID to aid Ukraine:

As violence in Ukraine escalates under Russia’s unprovoked invasion, America must continue to stand by the people of Ukraine and stand up for the values and interests of our nation and democracies around the world. Now is the time to act swiftly, and the Administration’s $2.9 billion request for immediate support for the State Department and USAID is a critical step in addressing this unfolding crisis. I urge lawmakers to move as quickly as possible, with bipartisan resolve, to provide these vital humanitarian and security resources.

Unfortunately, I fear this will not be the last time we will need to respond with emergency support due to this rapidly deteriorating situation, both in Ukraine and neighboring countries. We will need to watch closely as the situation evolves and be ready to continue to leverage our full diplomatic, economic, and security tools, as needed, working with our allies and partners. America’s interests depend on it.
