USGLC CEO on Passing of Congressman John Lewis

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The President and CEO of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition issued the following statement on the passing of Congressman John Lewis:

As inspirational and moving tributes come in from every corner of our nation, it is equally profound to bear witness to the extraordinary impact Congressman John Lewis has had on the world at large.

He never lost sight of our fellow citizens around the globe, always giving voice to the most vulnerable. Whether engaging in civil disobedience on atrocities from apartheid to Darfur, lifting up the global health work of the CDC in Atlanta, or traveling the world – recently to Ghana with Speaker Pelosi and CBC members – he cared about the rights of people and those suffering everywhere.

The USGLC joins all the citizens or our nation and the world, grateful for his lifetime of activism and for calling on America to be a beacon of freedom, justice, and equality.

Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values.
