USGLC CEO on National Security Emergency Package and Border Deal

WASHINGTON, DC – USGLC President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the National Security Emergency Package currently being considered by the U.S. Senate:

As global crises continue to spiral, the Senate’s bipartisan national security emergency package is a serious response to escalating global threats and is good news for advancing America’s interests.

While the headlines are certainly focused on the border deal and the military components, the package also includes urgently needed civilian resources that are essential for protecting America’s security and prosperity here at home. With authoritarian threats converging from Russia, China, and Iran, this economic and humanitarian package will be critical for supporting Ukraine and Israel, strengthening our competition with China in the Indo-Pacific, and bolstering America’s response to growing humanitarian needs.

Ultimately, the flashing red warning lights can no longer be ignored, especially when global stability matters for American stability. Congress must act now to approve this critical international affairs emergency funding, without which these global threats will only grow. Time is of the essence – Americans and our allies looking to the U.S. for leadership cannot afford to wait.
