USGLC CEO on Coronavirus Emergency Funding Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s President and CEO Liz Schrayer released the following statement on the announcement of a coronavirus emergency funding deal:

As part of the overall emergency response to the coronavirus, the USGLC commends bipartisan Congressional leaders for committing essential resources for the State Department and USAID to address the global fight.

The rapid spread of COVID-19, now appearing in more than 80 countries, is a sobering reminder that a deadly virus threat anywhere is a deadly threat everywhere. As the world rallies to stop yet another infectious disease, it is a stark warning that the U.S. must not only respond to the current crisis but also lead the way on global health security – boosting global preparedness and strengthening local health systems to prevent the next pandemic before it reaches our shores.

Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values. We believe that smart investments in international assistance and diplomacy, alongside defense, can make the world safer and America stronger.
