WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, released the following statement on the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Tony Blinken as the next Secretary of State:
I applaud the Senate’s vote to confirm Tony Blinken as America’s 71st Secretary of State. His swift and bipartisan confirmation sends a powerful signal to our nation and the world that American diplomacy and development matter — both on the global stage and here at home.
With his decades of experience, a commitment to America’s role in the world, and a firm belief that America has to be at the international table, he is the right choice to elevate American diplomacy in confronting complex global challenges from the pandemic to the changing climate, fragile states, and humanitarian crises.
We look forward to working with Secretary Blinken and members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to advance America’s interests and ensure the well-being and security of the American people.
Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values.
