WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) President and CEO, Liz Schrayer, applauded Senate confirmation of Samantha Power to become the next Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID):
I applaud the Senate’s confirmation of Samantha Power to become the 19th Administrator of USAID – and not a moment too soon. With COVID-19 spiraling further out of control in countries like Brazil and India, American leadership has never been more needed on the global stage to alleviate suffering and safeguard America’s own health, economic, and security interests.
As the head of our nation’s premier development agency, Administrator Power brings extraordinary experience and smarts to this position, and it is a game changer to have her talent as a vital part of the decision-making process as an official member of the National Security Council. The USGLC looks forward to working with her and Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to ensure America’s development programs are strong, effective, and fully resourced to meet today’s serious global challenge and ultimately protect the health and economic recovery of all Americans.
Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values. We believe that smart investments in international assistance and diplomacy, alongside defense, can make the world safer and America stronger.
