Chairman John Yarmuth has been a champion of U.S. engagement in the world throughout his entire congressional career, and all of us at USGLC are saddened to hear of his retirement. From his vital position as Chair of the powerful House Budget Committee, Chairman Yarmuth has prioritized resources for our development and diplomatic tools, and in doing so, he has made our nation safer, stronger economically, and a leader throughout the world.
I saw Chairman Yarmuth’s passion as a leading voice in support of America’s role in the world during a virtual townhall with him in his Kentucky district last spring. He spoke decisively about how what happens in the rest of the world matters at home in Louisville, and his leadership will be sorely missed in Congress.
While we regret seeing him retire, we wish Chairman Yarmuth and his family all the best and thank him for a job well done.
Since 1995, the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC.org) has been bringing together bipartisan political, military, business, farmer, faith, nonprofit, and community leaders from across the country to advocate on the strategic imperative of American leadership for advancing our own security, prosperity, and values. We believe that smart investments in international assistance and diplomacy, alongside defense, can make the world safer and America stronger.
