Accountability and Transparency at Work in MCC Evaluations

Programs Exceed or Meet Rigorous Requirements in Agency’s First Impact Review

Washington, DC The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) released the following statement from Executive Director Liz Schrayer commending the Millennium Challenge Corporation on the release of its first impact evaluations:

“The release of the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC) first impact evaluations is a real step forward in demonstrating transparency in U.S. development efforts.  Efforts like this are transforming the way development is done with a clear emphasis on the principles of results, accountability, and impact.

“Development is a critical investment in our national security and economy, and the entire development field is quickly becoming a model for measuring results and demonstrating accountability, with MCC leading the way.

“In this difficult fiscal environment, every government program needs to demonstrate its value to the American taxpayer, and the rigorous evaluation mechanisms put in place at MCC are living up to that standard.”

The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (www.usglc.org) is a broad-based influential network of 400 businesses and NGOs; national security and foreign policy experts; and business, faith-based, academic and community leaders in all 50 states who support a smart power approach of elevating development and diplomacy alongside defense in order to build a better, safer world.
