Policy Assistant

The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented entry-level professional to join the Policy Team as a Policy Assistant.  The position provides the opportunity to contribute to USGLC’s advocacy work and strategic engagement with the U.S. Administration and Congress on elevating and strengthening diplomacy and development in American foreign policy. The position reports to the Deputy Policy Director and is based in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate in ongoing analysis and monitoring of U.S. foreign policy developments related to global development and diplomacy, including producing written materials such as issue summaries, briefing memos, and talking points.
  • Support the Policy team in preparing memos and additional materials for events in D.C. and around the country with policymakers, experts, and members from the foreign policy community.
  • Provide research and writing assistance on special projects relating to U.S. foreign policy, global development, and economic prosperity including materials for the Policy Director and Deputy Policy Director.
  • Assist the Policy team in engagement with policymakers at Executive Branch agencies supported by the International Affairs Budget and other stakeholders as relevant;
  • Contribute to and author blog posts and fact sheets;
  • Coordinate with other USGLC teams as assigned to ensure policy coherence across the organization
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to international relations or global development and will possess the ability to manage projects independently within a team environment. Excellent writing, research, communications, and organizational skills are required. Foreign affairs knowledge and/or foreign policy experience a plus; U.S. foreign policy around diplomacy and development interest is a must.
