Serves as a senior advisor to the President on international trade policy and economic policy.
Clete Willems most recently served as Special Assistant to the President for International Trade, Investment, and Development. Prior to that, he served as Chief Counsel for Negotiations, Legislation, and Administrative Law at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative—a position he started in June 2015. Previously, he was a Legal Advisor to the U.S. Mission to the WTO and an Assistant General Counsel at USTR. From 2007 to 2009 Mr. Willems worked on the Hill Budget Committee immediately after serving as Legislative Director for Representative Paul Ryan.
