Policy Assistant

The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented entry-level professional to join the Policy Team. The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is a broad-based network of over 500 businesses and NGOs; national security and foreign policy experts; and business, faith-based, academic and community leaders. The position provides the opportunity to contribute to USGLC’s advocacy work and strategic engagement with the U.S. Administration and Congress on elevating and strengthening diplomacy and development in American foreign policy. The position reports to the Policy Director and is based in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate in ongoing analysis and monitoring of policy developments, including producing written materials such as issue summaries, briefing memos, and talking points.
  • Support the Policy team in preparing memos and additional materials for events in DC and around the country with policymakers, experts, and members from the foreign policy community.
  • Provide research and writing assistance on special projects relating to U.S. foreign policy, global development, and economic prosperity.
  • Assist the Policy team in engagement with policymakers at Executive Branch agencies supported by the International Affairs Budget.
  • Contribute to and author blog posts and fact sheets; and
  • Assist Policy Director in strengthening USGLC’s National Security Advisory Council of over 200 retired three and four star general and flag officers.
  • Assist Policy Director in engagement with 2022 and 2024 campaigns and potential policymakers in the Administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to international relations, global development or international business and emerging markets and will possess the ability to manage projects independently within a team environment. Foreign affairs knowledge and/or foreign policy experience a plus. Excellent writing, research, communications, and organizational skills are required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
