Policy Assistant

The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), a broad-based network of 500 businesses and NGOs; national security and foreign policy experts; and business, faith-based, academic and community leaders, seeks to hire an entry- to mid-level applicant to join the Policy Team.  The position provides the opportunity to contribute to USGLC’s advocacy work and strategic engagement with the U.S. Administration and Congress on elevating and strengthening diplomacy and development in American foreign policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate in ongoing analysis of policy developments, including written materials such as issue summaries, briefing memos and talking points.
  • Assist Policy Director in engagement with 2020 campaigns and potential policymakers in the next Administration.
  • Assist Policy Director in engagement with policymakers at Executive Branch agencies supported by the International Affairs Budget.
  • Assist Policy Director in strengthening USGLC’s National Security Advisory Council of over 200 retired three and four star general and flag officers.
  • Provide research assistance on special projects relating to U.S. foreign policy, global development, and economic prosperity.
  • Contribute to and author blog posts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to international relations, global development or international business and emerging markets and will possess the ability to manage projects independently within a team environment. Capitol Hill or political campaign experience a plus. Excellent writing, research, communications, and organizational skills are required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
