Digital Communications Associate – Social Platforms

The Digital Communications Associate will join a growing, fun, and creative communications team that works relentlessly to engage leaders around the country to tell the story of how American development and diplomacy builds a better, safer world.

The ideal candidate will have growing and proven experience in the social and digital arena – particularly developing and executing a comprehensive organic content strategy across all channels – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. This position will work with colleagues across the organization to develop content and execute an pro-active strategy across USGLC’s social media platforms to maximize engagement.

Our communications team is driven to win – whether than means curating the perfect targeted email list, landing an op-ed at just the right political moment, or building digital campaigns that gets our message in front of top policymakers.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Social content development and execution – Maximizing USGLC’s voice and perspective across social media, including owning all social media channel content, developing engaging content with clear connections to USGLC messaging and priorities, and telling the story creatively.
  • Planning – Own and maintain a content calendar to support medium and long term planning for content needs and opportunities that is integrated with broader communications and organization priorities, alongside day to day engagement in the news flow. The content calendar should drive strategic choices about the narrative across USGLC social channels to support relevant advocacy and policy priorities, along with robust event support.
  • Metrics and outcomes – Own and maintain all engagement metrics across platforms and evaluate content, performance, and engagement and recommend changes or adjustments to optimize engagement with the goal of growing the USGLC audience following and engagement on a quarterly basis.
  • Best practices and innovation – Identify best practices and innovation across social channels to model/implement to improve success metrics.
  • External amplification – Coordinate with communications teammates and USGLC organizational colleagues to increase social engagement and organic uptake of USGLC stakeholders through the creation of social toolkits and external validator engagement.
  • Web and design – General website updates and maintenance through USGLC’s content management system, light graphic design work, and copy writing.

Requirements:

  • Two to four years proven experience in content development, design and management of websites, social media and other digital media communication platforms.
  • Ability to think strategically while embracing hands-on work.
  • Background in social media content strategy (paid and organic), graphic design, and content creation.
  • Key competencies with HTML/CSS, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and WordPress content management.
  • Strong collaboration skills; experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. A flexible team player who shares responsibility and credit alike.
