Digital Communications Assistant: Data & Email Platforms

The Digital Communications Assistant will join a growing, fun, and creative communications team that works relentlessly to tell the story of how American development and diplomacy builds a better, safer world. The ideal candidate will be politically savvy and have proven experience in the digital arena.

Our team is driven to win – whether than means landing an op-ed at just the right political moment, getting the right reporters in the room at a state event, or building a digital campaign that gets our message and members’ success stories in front of top policymakers and influencers.

The Digital Communications Assistant will report to the Deputy Communications Director and reside in Washington, D.C.


  • Website. Keep all our web platforms up to date and fresh with new content.
    (People email you content. You find the mistakes. Then post it – without the mistakes.)
  • Email and Data. Help support our advocacy email platform – creative campaigns, invitations, and list management for distributions.
    (We send *lots* of emails – help us shape our lists and data.)
  • Analytics. Analyze web, social, and email stats to inform communication campaigns.
    (Help us make even better decisions with our email, social, and web data.)
  • Graphic Design. Design digital communication products for targeted audiences.
    (You get things that are ugly. Please make them prettier and easier to read.)
  • Team-Wide Support. Conduct detailed research, collect data, and develop background information to support initiatives across the USGLC.
    (This is the bucket where we get to assign you everything else.)


  • A minimum of 1-year experience in communications, public relations, digital, or related work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communications skills.
  • Proven experience with data manipulation in Excel is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with desktop and web publishing software, specifically WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite; basic HTML skills desirable.
  • Experience with constituent databases such as Convio and Salesforce is desirable.
  • Strong collaboration skills; experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A flexible team player who shares responsibility and credit.
  • Campaign or political experience is desirable.
