USGLC Applauds House Passage of Global Food Security Act, Foreign Aid Transparency Bill

Two key bills in two days underscore bipartisan commitment to America’s foreign assistance programs

WASHINGTON – USGLC President and CEO Liz Schrayer issued the following statement on the House of Representatives passage of S. 1252, the Global Food Security Act, and H.R. 3766, the Foreign Aid Transparency and Accountability Act:

Once again, when it seems like Capitol Hill has ground to a halt, Congress demonstrates that our nation’s foreign assistance programs remain a place where Republicans and Democrats stand together. The USGLC applauds the House passage of the Global Food Security Act and the Foreign Aid Transparency and Accountability Act. This week’s votes are a testament not only to the Chairs and Ranking Members of the Committees, but also to Speaker Ryan and House Leadership for prioritizing America’s development programs.

Hats off to Congress for voting to deliver results for farmers and families around the world – and for the American taxpayer. This is smart aid at its best. And it’s what the future looks like as we leverage strategic partnerships between governments, businesses, and non-profits working together. We look forward to the President signing these critical bills into law.
