The USGLC has a strong presence in Ohio, hosting multiple events there in the lead up to the 2008 Presidential election. As part of our Impact ’08 initiative, the USGLC was honored in a joint proclamation from Governor Ted Strickland and Lieutenant Governor Lee Fischer.

Ohio Advisory Committee

In Ohio, the USGLC partners with a diverse group of business, non-profit, academic, and military leaders to form state-wide Advisory Committees. The USGLC Advisory Committee works across Ohio to educate and inspire support from Ohioans and policymakers on the importance of America’s civilian-led tools of diplomacy and development.

USGLC in Ohio in Action

On June 23rd, 2008, the USGLC launched Impact ’08 in Ohio with a luncheon and foreign policy discussion featuring an address via satellite by U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE). In addition to his speech, the event included welcoming remarks by Ohio Senate Minority Leader Ray Miller and a joint proclamation from Governor Ted Strickland and Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher. Impact ’08 in Oho held its final event, a discussion the global challenges and opportunities facing President-elect Barack Obama with former Senator Bill Bradley. The discussion was be moderated by Columbus Dispatch Senior Editor Joe Hallett. The event took place at The Ohio State University as part of Impact ’08 in Ohio, a partnership with OSU’s John Glenn School of Public Affairs, the Columbus World Affairs Council, and The ONE Campaign.
