Government Relations Associate

The U.S. Global Leadership Campaign (USGLC) is seeking a Government Relations Associate.  This position will be responsible for helping the USGLC’s government relations operation, including lobby efforts on Capitol Hill.  The position will report to the Director of Government Relations and reside in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Advocate for U.S. International Affairs Funding – Work with the Director and Deputy Director of Government Relations to develop and implement strategies to build Congressional and Administration support for increased funding for the U.S. International Affairs Budget.  Activities include direct lobbying, planning and managing Capitol Hill lobby days and briefings, and drafting communications to Capitol Hill.  
  • Serve as Expert Resource on Issue – Track and analyze the U.S. International Affairs Budget throughout the budget and appropriations process and prepare written and oral updates for USGLC membership.
  • Assist USGLC Field and Communications Operation – Work with USGLC colleagues to integrate Field and Communications operations with Government Relations programs. Provide strategic support and direction.

Position Requirements:

The position requires at least 2 years experience in federal government relations or advocacy with Congress and strong knowledge of international relations issues.  Ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill and familiarity with the budget and appropriations process.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced organization are required.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
