State Action: Pennsylvania
The International Affairs Budget is vital to the State of Pennsylvania. International trade supports approximately 20% of all jobs within the state. On February 24, 2010, Sen. Robert Casey highlighted the role the International Affairs budget plays in promoting U.S. exports and businesses abroad during Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, saying “it may not receive a lot of headlines, but I think it is important for American taxpayers to know what their investment in the International Affairs budget means for improving the domestic job market and what benefits they reap from helping to build stable societies and markets overseas (read more on Sen. Casey’s remarks here).”
The USGLC’s Pennsylvania steering committee is very active and helped host and event at the University of Pennsylvania featuring former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin leading up to the 2008 Presidential election as a part of our Impact ’08 campaign. Join the USGLC in helping build a more prosperous and safer Pennsylvania.
