SC GOP Chair Joins USGLC

Moore tapped for senior role at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, which just released letter signed by 120+ retired military leaders opposing cuts to State Department and USAID

WASHINGTON – Outgoing South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Matt Moore has just been named to be the next Director of Strategic Initiatives at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, the group that just coordinated the now prominent letter signed by 121 retired three and four-star military leaders opposing cuts to the State Department and foreign assistance.

Moore has seen firsthand — through his travels in Africa — how America’s diplomacy and development programs actually strengthen our national security – and he disagrees with the Administration and OMB Director Mick Mulvaney’s proposal to cut foreign aid. In his new role, Moore will be positioned to grow the USGLC’s outreach to the new Administration, the faith community, and conservatives around the country.

Given South Carolina’s role as an early presidential primary state, Moore brings a wealth of relationships with political leaders around the country and with influential South Carolinians in the new Administration.

Statement from Matt Moore:

America can’t retreat to its shores when the world is in crisis. While it’s no secret that some want to dramatically slash our investments overseas, we all know the consequences of pulling back – the good guys rarely fill the vacuum. Given the threats America faces, it would be a huge mistake to cut resources for the State Department and USAID. I couldn’t be more honored to join the USGLC, to get into this debate, and to underscore the broad conservative support around the country for U.S. global leadership.

Statement from Liz Schrayer, President & CEO, USGLC:

Bringing Matt on board here at the USGLC was a no-brainer. Born in the Reagan era, Matt’s work in South Carolina and across the country embodies the breadth of conservative support for America’s foreign assistance programs. After traveling to Africa and seeing first hand how aid programs are not only effective – but also keep us safe here at home – Matt’s become a leading conservative voice for America’s civilian forces alongside our military.
