Important Move Forward on Internet Access, Education, and Economic Opportunity

WASHINGTON — USGLC President and CEO Liz Schrayer issued the following statement on the House of Representatives passage of the Digital GAP Act, the Education for All Act, and the African Growth and Opportunity Enhancement Act:

Given today’s complex and interconnected world, the USGLC praises Congress for continuing to prioritize bipartisan foreign assistance legislation that will advance America’s leadership abroad.

We applaud the House for voting today to strengthen our nation’s global development programs by focusing on key issues that will improve lives and create opportunities for billions in the developing world. From promoting internet access for over 1.5 billion people to advancing basic education and economic engagement, these efforts demonstrate the best of America’s values and advance America’s security and economic interests.

With the House passage of these important bills, we are witnessing one of the most productive legislative sessions when it comes to America’s international affairs programs.
