USGLC Applauds Senate Passage of Global Food Security Act

Another Demonstration of Bipartisan Support for Foreign Assistance

WASHINGTON – USGLC President and CEO Liz Schrayer issued the following statement on the House of Representatives passage of S. 1252, the Global Food Security Act:

Once again, when it seems like Capitol Hill has ground to a halt, Congress demonstrates that our nation’s foreign assistance programs remain a place where Republicans and Democrats stand together. The USGLC applauds the passage of the Global Food Security Act and this unanimous vote is a testament to the leadership of Senators Johnny Isakson, Bob Casey, Bob Corker, and Ben Cardin.

Hats off to Congress for voting to deliver results for farmers and families around the world – and for the American taxpayer. This is how smart aid should be done. And it’s what the future looks like as we leverage strategic partnerships between governments, businesses, and non-profits working together.
