MCC CEO Outlines Vision
Last week Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Chief Executive Officer Daniel Yohannes issued a statement outlining his strategic vision for MCC, explaining his plans to internally realign MCC to support the agency’s priorities. “A primary reason for MCC’s success is our focus on one, well-defined mission: reducing poverty through economic growth,” Dr. Yohannes said. The plan identifies five priorities: 1) A renewed focus on results; 2) Increasing MCC’s use of new partnerships and new financing structures; 3) Emphasizing effective policy reform; 4) Strengthening MCC’s focus on gender and social assessment; and 5) Improving organizational effectivness. Beginning Aug. 1st, the MCC will combine its Departments of Compact Development and Compact Implementation into single Department of Compact Operations. It will also create a new division for Risk Management to focus on innovation, headed up by Frances Reid, currently Deputy Vice-President for compact implementation.
