There’s good news to report from the Hill.  Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee adopted the FY11 302(b) allocations, and voted to restore $1.3 billion of the $4 billion cut they recently made to the State-Foreign Operations bill.  This brings the total allocation for the State-Foreign Operations Appropriations bill to about $54 billion in the House, roughly the same as last week’s Senate’s allocation.  The Committee rejected (by a 20-36 vote) an amendment offered by Congressman Bill Young (R-FL) that would have redirected the $1.3 billion from State-Foreign Operations to the Defense bill.  The Committee also rejected an amendment offered by Ranking Member Jerry Lewis (R-CA) to freeze overall discretionary funding for FY 2011 at current levels.  The Committee’s approved 302(b) allocations total $1.121 trillion, which is $14.5 billion below the President’s FY 2011 budget request.
