House Electing Not to Fully Fund International Affairs Budget Request
This afternoon, the House State-Foreign Ops Subcommittee will mark-up its FY2011 bill, expected to be $4 billion less than the President’s request. In addition, Chairwoman Lowey is putting a hold on non-humanitarian aid to Afghanistan (approximately $3.8 billion). Of particular disappointment is that it appears the majority of the House’s cuts to the President’s total discretionary funding request are coming out of the International Affairs Budget. USGLC will be releasing a statement this afternoon expressing our disappointment with the House’s action and will provide a summary of the House mark-up by the end of the week.
