As Congress begins deliberations on FY11 appropriations, a full-page message in today’s Politico by USGLC highlights the drumbeat of support for a strong International Affairs Budget from across the political and civilian-military spectrum.  Entitled “What in the world do these important voice agree on?” the ad highlights all the “voices” – including all living former Secretaries of State, more than 50 military leaders, a “Who’s Who” of 51 leading American businesses, 59 Senators, and more than 200 Representatives — who have gone on record in recent months in support of increasing the International Affairs Budget.  With the all-important 302(b) appropriation allocations expected in the next week, the ad calls on Congress to fully fund the President’s FY11 International Affairs Budget request: “now is not the time to shortchange the smart power tools we need to build a better, safer world.”
