Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will discuss the important role women and girls play in fighting global poverty this morning when she gives the keynote speech at CARE’s National Conference.  Secretary Clinton has made investing in women and girls’ education a priority, saying they “are one of the world’s greatest untapped resources.  Remember the proverb ‘give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime?’ Well, if you teach a woman to fish, she’ll feed the whole village.”  As part of the State Department’s Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, a focus on gender has been integrated into all 12 policy task forces.
