Yesterday, a bipartisan group of 31 Senators wrote to Senate Budget Committee Chairman Conrad (D-ND) and Ranking Member Gregg (R-NH) encouraging adoption of the President’s full $58.5 request for the International Affairs Budget. This letter is very timely as the Senate Budget Committee begins debate tomorrow around the FY 11 budget resolution – and our sources on the Hill indicate that Chairman Conrad will, as in past years, propose a large cut from the President’s request level. Senators in their letter to Conrad and Gregg point out that “In addition to our national security, the International Affairs Budget is vital to our economic security and the U.S. economy.”
