This Week in Congress
With key decisions still being made by Congressional leaders about how to move forward on the FY 11 budget and the FY 10 supplementals for Afghanistan and Haiti, several hearings are on tap this week that will focus on key parts of the International Affairs Budget. Tomorrow morning, USAID Administrator Raj Shah will testify before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State-Foreign Operations on the FY 11 budget request. On Thursday, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will hold a hearing on “Promoting Global Food Security: Next Steps for Congress and the Administration.” Witnesses will include Deputy Secretary of State Jack Lew, USAID Administrator Shah, and the Chair of USGLC’s Center for U.S. Global Leadership, Dan Glickman. Former Secretary Glickman will be testifying in his capacity as co-chair of the Global Agricultural Development Initiative with the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
