Building Momentum for the International Affairs Budget
Impressive momentum is building from the Democratic Caucus on Capitol Hill, with 110 Members of the House calling on their leadership to support the President’s $58.5 billion International Affairs Budget request for FY 2011. Spanning the ideological spectrum of the caucus, Members of the Blue Dog and New Democrat Coalitions, Congressional Black and Progressive Caucuses, and senior Members of the Budget and House Foreign Affairs Committees sent letters to House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) and House Budget Committee Chairman Spratt (D-SC) urging them to include the President’s full request in the FY 2011 House Budget Resolution. Action on the all-important FY11 budget resolution could begin as early as next week – with the Senate moving before the House.
