The Millennium Challenge Corporation released a video this morning highlighting the results and success of its development activities, noting that over 44 million people around the world are expected to see an increase in income due to the agency’s efforts.  Created in 2004, the MCC provides select, well-performing countries with large-scale grants to fund country-led solutions for reducing poverty through sustainable economic growth.  As the House and Senate Budget Committees begin deliberations on the International Affairs Budget in the coming weeks, MCC’s results demonstrate the difference U.S. development assistance is making as part of a smart power approach to U.S. foreign policy.  The Administration has requested $1.28 billion for the MCC in FY 2011, a 15% increase from current levels.
