In what will be a very tight budget year, President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address next Wednesday, January 27, and plans to release his FY 2011 Budget request on February 1st. The USGLC has been mobilizing to ensure an increase in the International Affairs Budget.  In December, 247 Members of Congress asked the President to submit a robust International Affairs Budget request. The USGLC will have a detailed analysis of the budget request shortly after its release on Feb. 1.

As Haiti continues a long recovery following the devastating earthquake one week ago today, Secretary Clinton and USAID Administrator Shah visited the island over the weekend to personally assess how development aid is flowing. To ensure recovery and development priorities are being met, the U.S. and Haitian governments issued a joint communiqué outlining priorities for the relief efforts.
