The FY11 Letter continues to gain signatures in Congress, from both sides of the aisle. In the Senate, Republicans Saxby Chambliss (GA) and Susan Collins (ME) have joined their Democratic colleagues Carl Levin (MI) and Jeanne Shaheen (NH) in supporting the call to President Obama to request a robust International Affairs Budget. In the House, Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL) and Steven LaTourette (R-OH), along with Dan Boren (D-OK) and Steny Hoyer (D-MD), has signed onto the Letter. In total, 110 Members have currently signed on. In addition, Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), Vice Chair of the House Budget Committee, is circulating a letter to her fellow colleagues on the committee urging them to sign onto the FY11 Letter. “At less than 1.5% of the total federal budget, the International Affairs Budget is a cost-effective investment in our national interests,” Rep. Schwartz’s letter reads. “I urge you to join us as a co-signer of this important letter.”
